A winter day’s inspiration: Late summer roses at the Farmstead in Central Maine
Thanks for stopping by my blog for a visit. I’m a writer inspired by nature and human nature—one who needed an extra bit of inspiration on a cold winter’s day. These roses are a vintage variety from last summer’s garden (originally dug from the edge of the woods and transplanted by us in 2006) at our Farmstead in Central Maine. Love the flowers, Bette! They make me long for spring. We have been fortunate not to get too much snow so far. It’s been a mild winter. Got 6-8 inches with today’s storm but it looks like a winter wonderland with all the trees covered. The birds were eating ravenously trying to stay warm. Thanks for the upbeat posts! ❤️

Hi, Janice. We were blessed with about a 10 inch blanket and the land looks lovely again. Winter here has been short and so much warmer than usual. Enjoying our new winter wonderland and glad that you are too! ❤

Our winter landscape is drab and dreary, but spring is on its way. We’ve had a very mild winter and today the sun was glorious. I’m well and hope you are too, Lynz! ❤

It’s a sad time here. Our friend and neighbor died shoveling snow the day of the big storm. I am beginning to truly hate snow, once my favorite season. Let Spring come quickly with renewed hope.

Oh, Micki, I’m so sorry to hear about the tragic loss of your neighbor. Sending along love and prayers for all. I used to love the winter season. It offered a nice reprieve from all of the work of the other three. But with back and leg problems, I can’t get out and snowshoe much (used to enjoy it nearly every day of the season). Thinking spring too and hoping it will come quickly for all of us. It is the great renewer of the spirit. Hugs, my dear Micki! ❤

So far, so good! Winter got off to a late start and we’ve only had two big snows, which are melting away at 30 and 40 degree temps. Of course, the landscape looks dreary with browns and grays permeating the lovely white vistas. Figured it was time to start thinking spring… We got zero precip from the blizzard. Yay! Hugs to you. ❤
