Stevens Autumn’s vibrant display of colors never fails to inspire and writing Haiku (a Japanese-inspired three-line: 5-7-5 syllable poetry form) is one of my favorite ways to capture nature’s stories.     That was absolutely beautiful. You have a wonderful way with words. However, it’s not actually a Haiku. A haiku is 5-7-5, whereas what you have written is 5-8-5. Its definitely beautiful though

    Gorgeous haiku inspired by a gorgeous photo, Bette (almost looks like a underwater glimpse of coral, doesn’t it?).

    Here in Cincinnati Autumn is still teasing us behind veils of Indian Summer. I am SO looking forward to the crispness and the beauty of one of my favorite seasons.

    Winter is the other, btw – which will be on its way all too soon in Maine, I’m sure. But for NOW I want your weather and your scenery. 🙂 Beautiful share. Thank you.

      Autumn tree tops against the stormy sky really do resemble coral… 🙂 Thanks so much for stopping by to add to the conversation, Madelyn. After two days of much needed rain, the sun is shining again today and it’s feeling more like spring than fall. With all of the summer-like temps we’ve been blessed the enjoy into October, it’s only been two days of glorious color. In fact, we were wondering if our dull and rusty leaves were going to explode this year–they did! 🙂 xo

        My pleasure. We have rain again today here – much to the dismay of my puppy, whose walk was truncated, even with his raincoat. (If you’ve ever had a long-haired small dog, you know you REALLY don’t want them wet!)

        Yesterday was glorious so we took a walk around a nearby pond and he came back with a face-full of sticker burrs, bless his little puppy heart. It took over an hour to comb and cut them out. At least with his raincoat I only have to dry and demat the top of his head, tail and feet – and if he starts out in relatively good shape that’s a relatively quick process.

        So, even though it is my favorite season, I don’t love EVERYTHING about autumn – lol. It sure is a pretty season, however, and both pup and I appreciate the cooler temperatures.

    I so love this time of year. The rain stopped, the air cleared and now it’s crisp, dry and the leaves look like they are lit from within … like your picture at the top of the page. It almost makes up for the rest of the year 🙂

      I’m with you, Marilyn! The autumn landscape hasn’t been this spectacular for years. I’ve been out with the camera every day trying to capture its glory before leaves fall, leaving our lovely trees ready to dress in winter white. That too is spectacular, but I’m never quite ready for it. Cheers abounding for many more awesome autumn days! 🙂 ❤

      Hi, Noelle. Winds left us a few downed birches along the field and a bit of much needed rain. Dan’s already got the trees cut and stacked and the weather has been perfect since. Wishing you many beautiful weeks after a devastating storm and thankful that you are safe. Blessings and love… ❤

    Wow! That is a tempest indeed – hope the storm wasn’t too bad. Great autumnal haiku – the morning skies are particularly inspiring at the moment, white clouds skittling across the the palest of blue skies, lit up by sunlight struggling to warm the air.
