A writer inspired by nature and human nature

Great quote! By the way, I’m currently reading “My Sister’s Keeper” by Jodi Picoult and “Echoes Beneath” by J. A. Owenby. What are you reading? —Bette A. Stevens, Maine author https://www.4writersandreaders.com

“Books speak to us thoughtfully, one at a time. They demand our attention. And they demand that we briefly put aside our own beliefs and prejudices and listen to someone else’s. There’s one questions I think we should ask one another a lot more often, and that’s “what are you reading?”

  1. I’ve read three good books so far this year. Chinese Whiskers by Pallavi Aiyar was the lightest, about life in Beijing from several cat’s perspectives; Mrs. Palfrey at the Claremont by Elizabeth Taylor (not the actress), an honest look at aging, with humor too; and The Inflatable Buddha by Andras Kepes, about Hungary before, during and after World War II – an important book, I think.

    • I usually reading a print book by day and another on Kindle by night or when I’m on the go. I love the fact that I can increase the print size on my Kindle and have even downloaded copies of print books that I find hard to read due to small or light typesetting. Thanks for sharing and happy reading! 🙂

  4. I agree Bette…books are wonderful companions! I am reading ‘This Was A Man’ the last book of Clifton Chronicles by Jeffery Archer. Though I read slowly and leisurely I am almost halfway just in four days!

  5. Too often, these days the answer is “I don’t read.” I find that frightening.
