Believe in Miracles

Poem by Bette A. Stevens

The whistling of the wind at play
Sunrise marking each new day
Rainfall crafting flowers to grow
Bright hues of every new rainbow

Planning skills for birds and bees
Conifer seeds becoming trees
Seas with creatures great and small
Land or sea, God made them all

Stars that mark the sky at night
Waning moon soon waxing bright
Seasons as they come and go
Wonders in each day they show

Wonder of wonders is mankind
Of every persuasion, you will find
God’s miracles are everywhere
Here to treasure, here to share

God made each one of us to show
His love and mercy as we go
About our life on earth each day
To all God’s wonders on our way

The greatest miracle you’ll find
God made the world with us in mind
He made it so that we might see
The love He has for you and me

John 1:3 (NIV) “Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.”

  6. Smashing poem, Bette, one of your best ever! Are you under a ton of snow? We were minding the weather reports and it looks like Maine got bombed. Hope you had a wonderful Christmas and have a very Happy New Year with more poetry!

    • Thanks so much, Noelle. We’re living in Maine’s Winter Wonderland… Have a two-foot coverlet of white sparkling in the sun this morning. It’s lovely to look at, but I’m hoping for an early spring (fingers & toes crossed). We had a quiet Christmas (snowed in) and heading over to daughter’s house to celebrate today. Wishing you and your family a blessed and beautiful New Year! ❤ xo

  21. Fabulous poem, Bette, and a wonderful reminder of what we should be focused on. I have a thin silver bracelet I never take off that has a line from Psalms: “Be still and know that I am God.” It’s my way of staying grounded and weathering the storms. Merry Christmas!

    • Thanks so much for sharing your silver bracelet engraved with that inspiring verse from Psalms, Mae. Now I will look for one of those for myself and as gifts for my daughters as well. What a wonderful way to stay grounded and weather the storms. Proverbs 3:5-6 help keep me grounded: “Trust in the Lord with all thy heart and lean not on thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him and he will direct thy path.” ❤ Merry Christmas!

      • I love that verse as well, Bette! There are so many treasures in the Bible to help us through our daily walk. If you Google the verse I mentioned, you’ll get a lot of hits for the bracelet. I wish I could remember where I purchased it. I think it was through The Paragon catalog, but I’m not certain. I think I paid around $60 for it. There are less expensive ones, but I wanted something thin that I could leave on and never take off, that would hold up to showering and pool water in the summer—and it has!

        Merry Christmas, my friend! 🙂
