    Wow! Great list! Dear Bette, i would like to ask you a question. I dared to write a non-fiction book about my country, I certainly had it edited by a professional editor and now working on illustrations to it. I don’t know how good or not my book is but I wanted to try to send some book proposals to different publishing houses. Do you thin it’s wisdom? Or the self-publishing is a better choice? I would appreciate any advice.

      Why not try both! Send out some queries to publishers; meanwhile start your self-publishing journey too. Self-publishing is a daunting task, but one that can insure publication of your work. In any case, enjoy your journey or journeys, Ann! 🙂 xo

    Thanks for sharing, Bette. Anne Lammott actually lives in my area and she can occasionally be seen around town. I’ve never read her books, though, but I’m going to order Bird by Bird based on what I’ve read here. 🙂 xoxo

Strunk and White's "The Elements of Style" has been with me for decades as a first-go-to when it comes to questions about writing and I'm sure looking forward to Lammott's "Bird by Bird," scheduled to arrive in my mailbox on Friday.
