Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ Monarch butterflies are a threatened/near-endangered species. The Center for Biological Diversity and the Center for Food Safety filed a legal petition requesting Endangered Species Act protection for the monarch and its habitat.

About the book

AMAZING MATILDA (Ages 4-11 + grownups love it too) Friendship, patience and persistence are among the lessons learned in this gem of a tale featuring an amazing monarch butterfly. This award-winning picture book adventure follows the monarch’s life cycle as Matilda embarks on a quest to make her dream of flying come true. Matilda emerges from her egg on a milkweed leaf, she stretches and yawns and wants to fly. Sparrow tells her to follow her dreams. Toad and Rabbit laugh at a creature without wings who wants to fly. You’ll be as amazed as Toad and Rabbit, as you follow Matilda from egg to imago.

      Ever thanks for your ardent support and encouraging messages that always brighten my days, Marilyn. I’ve been trying to come up with a one sentence ‘pitch’ for Dog Bone Soup. Here’s what I’ve come up with so far (I’ll keep working on it, but thought you might be able to help me get it refined: THE WIP PITCH” A compelling family drama in which a youth grows to manhood in a society where the poor are quickly, and often wrongly, judged.” What do you think???? SENDING lots of love and hope you’re getting some real spring weather. We’ve had sunshine and 50s for two days.It looks and feels like SPRING has finally sprung.     When we were kids, my sister and my cousin and I would gather milkweed from the alleyway and keep a caterpillar in a jar. Every year we would watch and wait and wave goodbye to our own Amazing Matilda. I love this story! It brought back a good memory. Thank you!

It brought back beautiful childhood memories of Mama giving me glass jars with holes punch in the lids so I could experience the joy and wonder of witnessing monarch caterpillars form their chrysalis and turn into butterflies. ❤ Oh the magic of it all… HAPPY EARTH DAY every day, my friend. xo

    Bette, beautiful post. I do love butterflies very much….you might have noticed.:) you would love visiting me in summer as there also are Monarchs in the garden. Together with a number of other species. Such an incredible delight.

    Various kinds of Dragonflies too. Amazing creatures.

      Oh, how I would love to come for a visit, Miriam. Fortunately, we can ‘visit’ here and your garden sounds sensational. We too have lots of butterflies, dragonflies, hummingbirds and more of our awesome pollinators visit our gardens here at the farmstead in central Maine.     Monarchs and butterflies of any type as well as dragonflies are my favorite small flying creatures. Their life-stories are quite amazing. Thank you for the free book!
