A writer inspired by nature and human nature

As summer comes to a close in Maine, autumn breezes usher in The Pine Tree State’s new season… These Fall Asters along the roadside inspired my poem “Final Performance.”

Final Performance

While asters, purple tutus donned

With velvet yellow crowns

Ballet to cricket violins,

Sway tiptoe in their gowns;

A golden orb in treetops rests

The stage a soft pale blue

And I among their audience

Too soon must say, “Adieu!”

  8. The poem is splendid, Bette. It’s lovely to watch the ballet of blooms. Yes, we don’t want them to go too soon! ❤

  9. Thank you for sharing your lovely words!!… I prefer not to say “goodbye” because “goodbye” sounds too much like “forever”… plus, my garden is merely taking a needed winter’s nap and I know we’ll meet again in the spring… 🙂

    Until we meet again..
    May you always be blessed
    with walls for the wind,
    a roof for the rain,
a warm cup of tea by the fire,
    laughter to cheer you,
    those you love near you,
and all that your heart might desire.
