November is a month when the last leaves of a glorious season in Maine are soon to be whisked away.  It’s also a month when families and friends gather to celebrate Thanksgiving across the USA. Whether you are planning to travel near or far, or maybe just to stay at home where it’s cozy and warm, I wish you all the Happiest of Holidays! ~Bette A. Stevens, Maine author

  1. A belated Happy Thanksgiving, Bette! It must have been strange for you all not to be present together but read you’ve managed to ‘see’ everyone! It’s heartwarming how everyone is trying to make the best of a very difficult time … and next year I imagine celebrations will be incredibly joyful and emotional. Love & hugs xx

    • We all have so much to be grateful for this year… I think that many families have grown closer and perhaps we’ve all grown closer as a global village! ❤ Sending lots of love your way, dear Annika! xoxoxo

  3. Happy Thanksgiving, Bette. Lovely haiku. It’s breezy and chilly and rainy here today in the Boston area. Probably the same in your town. Hunker down, stay safe and warm, and happy. xo

    • Thanks, Pam. Hubby and I grateful for one another, for two grand-cats who keep us laughing and for family we can share the holiday with via Facetime. The rain has melted some of yesterday’s snow–sure to freeze into a skating rink overnight… We’ve got a cozy fire to keep us warm! ❤ Blessings and love to you and yours, my friend!

  8. Your haiku is lovely and perfect, Bette. Our son (25) lives with us and had planned to move out in the fall, but covid changed his plans. No sense on wasting the money with restrictions in place. But we get to have him home a little longer and he continues to save, save, save. He’ll see what the new year looks like.
We’ll do the same as you with our daughter and son-in-law in TN for Thanksgiving – Facetime. No one wants to travel because of the surges now. Better to be safe. But we do miss them and it’s tough beyond words, which is why it will be nice when everyone can resume their normal lives, whenever that will be. Sigh…
Wishing you a lovely Thanksgiving! 💕🍂🍁🧡

    • Thanks so much, Lauren. The pandemic is so hard for all of us and especially so on young adults. We have two grands–ages 23 and 20 whose lives are far from the norm we experienced at their ages. Gratefully, we are all in this together and must continue to offer them encouragement and hope for a bright future. They are our future! 🧡💛💚🍂 Blessings and love to you and yours every day… xo

  10. Thank you for sharing!!.. have a wonderful Thanksgiving and hope the day, and every day, is filled with love and happiness and life is all that you wish for it to be!!.. 🙂

On Thanksgiving Day, and every day..
May flowers always line your path
    and sunshine light your way,
    May songbirds serenade your
    every step along the way,
May a rainbow run beside you
in a sky that’s always blue,
And may happiness fill your heart
each day your whole life through.
May the sun shine all day long
Everything go right, nothing go wrong
May those you love bring love back to you
And may all the wishes you wish come true
    (Irish Saying)

  11. I love your haiku and suggestions for Thanksgiving. Sadly, we will not gather as usual, but I did suggest pumpkin pie on the patio, after separate dinners.

We do what we can. I look forward to a vaccine, which will ease the restrictions.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family, Bette!

    • Thanks, Norah. 🧡 Families may not be able to gather from across the globe, but may those who are home together make these moments magical. May those who are along be brought together through the magic through phone calls and time with family on Zoom, Facetime etc. How grateful we can all be for the magic of digital togetherness. Blessings to you and yours! xo

  23. This is the time of the year, Bette! Happy Thanksgiving to you. ❤ Thanksgiving this year may not be the same as usual. I just heard the news of a restricted travel among CA, OR, and WA. Anyone enter into OR or WA must be self quarantine for 14 days. We have to cancel our trip to see our grandkids. I'm still hopeful to travel for Christmas. ❤

      • The cases are alarmingly high, Bette. There were 1 million news cases in one week, 11/9-11/16 among 45 states. The winter wave is scary. Yes, we should stay home until help is available. We keep the Christmas tickets and hope to go.

        Happy Thanksgiving to you.💖🍁💖
