I am writing down E.L. Doctorow’s quote, not just to savor it, but to share when I give writing workshops. It is also an absolutely perfect way to get across something I try to explain to my authors submitting stories to my authors helping authors project. Along with my feedback with words such as: “You need to show your readers how your character feels”, or “We need a story rather than a recounting of happenings,” I now
have one more way of getting that point across. Thank you.
