A writer inspired by nature and human nature

It’s the little things in life that mean so much. May your days be filled with wonders!  ~Bette A. Stevens, Maine author http://www.4writersandreaders.com

Sacred Touches

Perfect happiness is a beautiful sunset,
the giggle of a grandchild, the first snowfall.
(even if the snow is just on our WP blogs)
It’s the little things that make happy
moments, not the grand events.
Joy comes in sips, not gulps.
~Sharon Draper

Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens
Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens
Brown paper packages tied up with strings
These are a few of my favorite things

Cream colored ponies and crisp apple strudels
Door bells and sleigh bells and schnitzel with noodles
Wild geese that fly with the moon on their wings
These are a few of my favorite things

Girls in white dresses with blue satin sashes
Snowflakes that stay on my nose and eyelashes
Silver white winters that melt into Springs
These are a few of my favorite things

When the dog bites
When the bee stings
When I’m feeling sad

  1. Nice post— a nice array of all of my favorite things. I love ‘Sound of Music!!
Christen Plummer and Julie Andrews to name two. 🙂

    • Me too, Micki! Thanks for stopping by. I’m ready for ‘The Sound of Music’! Wishing you and your family a blessed and beautiful Christmas! ❤

    • Thanks for stopping by, Kathryn. Sending lots of love your way for a Very Merry Christmas and a beautiful holiday season! ❤ P.S. Do you still have a Christmas book you would like me to feature on the blog? If so, email me the post at bettestevens@tds.net

  3. It’s already December. Another year. Wow. But not too bad, as years go. Maybe next one will be even better? We can hope! Happy holidays … all of them!!

    • Wow is right! Hard to believe another year is nearing its end. We’re already enjoying the holiday season with our family. Window shopping with daughter and granddaughter tomorrow in downtown Waterville and Dan and I celebrate our 51st on Sunday. This year has flown by as has the half-century prior. Wishing you all the Happiest of Holidays too! ❤

  4. Thanks so much for the reblog dear Bette! 🙂 ❤

  5. Lovely, Bette.

  6. Thanks for sharing the lovely post, Bette. Yes, snow on my blog is one of the little things that makes me happy 🙂 Have a wonderful December. Do you have snow up there in Maine yet?

    • Hi, Diana. Let it snow…I love the snow on our blogs too! We’re still waiting for the cold white flakes to don the now dreary landscape here in Central Maine. The little we’ve had has been washed away, but the magic of winter white is sure to stop by for an extended visit before long and light up smiles on faces young and old. Today the sun is shining and I’m smiling. Have a wonderful day! 🙂

  7. Here’s to all those wonderful simple pleasures, Bette. But no snowflakes for me on my eyelashes or anything else. LOL. Have a wonder-filled weekend. Mega hugs.

  8. Loved this post, Bette. This is MY season (hence my name) and I do love this song from The Sound of Music and your words to open it. Do you have snow yet??

    • Delighted to have you stop by for a visit, Noelle. Wishing you a Very Happy Birthday, the Merriest of Christmases and Abundant Blessings now and throughout the New Year! Finally got some snow that’s here to stay yesterday (3 inches and temps in the 20s). It certainly helps to make the season bright! Hugs ❤

  9. We got our first snow in over five years today! Some excited kiddos in my house! Thanks for sharing this at Booknificent Thursday on Mommynificent.com this week!

    • Enjoy! The magic of watching little ones enjoy the world and its treasures is priceless. Wishing you all of the Wonders of the season! 🙂
