Honored to share a spotlight on author Alethea Kehas’s “Better World of Books” feature for my children’s picture book Amazing Matilda. Thanks so much for supporting authors and reviewing books of all genres that offer a vision for a better world, Alethea. You’re amazing! ~ Bette A. Stevens
I am thrilled to be featuring Bette Steven’s award-winning children’s book, Amazing Matilda: A Monarch’s Tale, on “A Better World of Books.” Bette resides in Maine and finds her inspiration for her writing through “nature and human nature.” She is an advocate for childhood literacy and the protection of monarch butterflies and their habitat. Her book Amazing Matilda combines her passions into an engaging story about a young caterpillar’s journey of growth and transformation as she becomes a monarch butterfly.
Matilda’s tale begins when she emerges into life as a tiny caterpillar with an innate desire to fly. The world is spread before her and she is eager to explore it with wings. Her journey evokes the inner child that exists in all of us. Matilda is filled with the promise of life, but she must learn trust and patience as she grows from a caterpillar…

Holy Cow!!! WOW! First of all, I like your hair cut shoulder length (or would you call that just short & curly, hmmm)???? Hmmmmm! Anyway, back to what I was saying…… WOW & DOUBLE WOW… first of all… Let me introduce myself… My name is Marie Moody & my blog is “XmasDolly”! I named it that because my daughter is a blogger & back in 2010 I had my first back operation and I was stuck at home after a 17 yr jaunt at Chicago, downtown as a Paralegal. So I became a blogger. It’s a long story, but I won’t bore you with it. So now we know each other & I introduced myself because now I can say I know a real live author!!! That is awesome!!!! I can bore you with a million questions, but I won’t. Thank you for your time and I hope we can become friends, but if not you can just tell me you don’t have time & I’m cool with that. We do have so many friends in common though I bet like our friend from Comedy Plus! I love Sandee so much. She’s such a great gal, and always picks up my spirits when I’m down. Have a great day & I hope you had a really nice Thanksgiving!!! Hugs, Marie aka Dolly………….. woo hoo… I know an AUTHOR!!! WOW!!!

A fabulous review, Bette. What a treat, and I couldn’t agree more. 🙂 This book really sticks with kids. My grandson – three years later – still names Monarchs Matilda.

Thanks so much for your delightful note, dear Diana! 🙂 I’m just like a kid when I get up close and personal with my monarchs. The girls and Matilda and the boys (black dots on the filigree of their back wings) are always Max to me… I can picture Tornado Boy talking to them too! Blessings and love to your and yours… xo

Thank you for your thoughtful note, dear Norah! 🙂 I love butterflies and monarchs are extra special with wings that shine line stained glass windows in the sun. xo

I agree. I used to love having monarchs in the classroom. They are stunning at every stage. When the administration discovered that milkweed is poisonous we were no longer able to have them and we had the varied eggfly instead – a stunning butterfly but less attractive in other stages. 🙂
