Through the Eyes of a Child

Haiku by Bette A. Stevens, Maine author

When seen through the eyes

Of the children we’re watching

The whole world’s brand new

The haiku, “Through the Eyes of a Child,”  is my response to a #writephoto CHILD writing challenge from author/blogger Sue Vincent at https://scvincent.com/2017/04/27/thursday-photo-prompt-child-writephoto/ I invite you to visit and explore Sue’s blog.

Have a beautiful day and let’s all keep looking at the world through the eyes of the children in our lives—not only the children in our families and neighborhoods, but through the eyes of children in communities around the world—we’re sure to get inspired! ~Bette A. Stevens

Bette, I love this and it is so true – it’s precious to have a chance to see the magic of the world again through the child’s eye! 😀 I remember searching for pebbles on the beach with my son as young and becoming mesmerised by their beauty, colours, shapes…of course, my son had wandered off to paddle or such quite early on in our exploration!

Children are so uninhibited. They see things an adult can’t see. It’s as though we’ve grown calluses over our eyes through the years. Seeing through the eyes of a child can be equated to closing your eyes and listening to what’s around you. It’s beautiful.

Lovely poem, Bette and so true. That’s been part of the fun of grandparenting – I get to be a kid and see the world anew. 🙂
