Enjoying another snow day at the farmstead in Central Maine. My current WIP (work in progress) is a poetry collection that I plan to publish this year. The photo shows the east side of our barn (I love that spruce tree we planted a few years back.) here at the farmstead. Today I’ve written Winter Ensemble and invite you to join the fun and write a haiku too. If the kids are around, you can make it a family affair—get them writing haiku with you!

This is a beautiful haiku, Bette, and I love that you paired it with the photo of your barn. There is something romantic about barns in all their shapes and sizes. My dream since childhood was to have a farm with multiple barns. You sure have had some extreme weather this year with the nor’easters passing through. I understand there is another heading up along the coast this week for three in a row. Keep warm, my friend. Love and hugs. ❤️❤️❤️

Bette, you’ve created another great Haiku. There’s nothing quite like living on a farmstead.
Our last home (an 1847 farmhouse) was nestled high on a hill.
Excited to hear you’ll be publishing a poetry collection!
Blessings,
Tracy

Your haiku is lovely, Bette, along with your photo! It sounds gorgeous to me simply because we don’t get snow in the bay area. 🙂 It’s been awhile since I’ve written a haiku, so here’s an old one I thought I’d share:
Confidentiality
dangling in the sky
while the sun rests for awhile
only the stars know
Have a wonderful start to your week! Hugs xo

Fantastic haiku, Lauren! ❤ I grew up in Santa Clara and love the California coast as much as I do the Atlantic. There's something special about the sea. Dan & I spent six years in Southern CA when he was working for DOD in the 90s. May your week be filled with wonders, my friend. xo

Thanks, Bette, and what a small world! I was raised in southern Cal., then moved to the bay area 19 years ago. My family is still down there. Wishing you a wonderful week, too! Hugs xo

Perfect photo, and the Haiku is exquisite, Bette. I’m looking out in my backyard this morning and as the sun stirs up the wind, I hear a symphony. And that is so much better than thinking how draw it looks!

Beautiful haiku,Bette! Your snow photo is a delight and I can feel the cold of the snow! The easterly wind is bringing Arctic conditions to the UK this week … it’s not often we can say we’re actually colder than the arctic! Btw, I’m so excited to read about your latest WIP and wish you best of luck with completing the poetry collection. ❤️🌺
