I took this photo of the American and Maine State Flags at Moose Point State Park in Searsport, Maine. The flurry of American flags flying proudly along the main streets of towns and villages throughout the state inspired me to write the haiku—American Flags. Dan and I have traveled the highways and byways of America from coast to coast by northern, southern and central routes. We’ve traversed both coasts from north to south and from south to north. America’s beauty abounds in its land and in its people across our great nation. Happy Independence Day as we celebrate America’s Birthday. Wishing everyone across the nation and around the globe a summer overflowing with God’s richest blessings! ~Bette A. Stevens, Maine author

Terrific pic and sentiments, Bette. We had a quiet Fourth, under our gazebo nestled in the oak wood behind our house. We barbecued a beef brisket and Old Glory flew overhead. We invited some friends and neighbors over, and we enjoyed some pleasant conversation together while we ate.
It was the sort of day I wish we had more often.
Wishing you many days like this, with details adjusted to suit. 🙂

Dear Bette, the two flags together look beautiful. I hope you had a good 4th of July.
It occurs to me as amazing the power an image/ icon / flag has over us. No matter which country.
Hmmm…..could we ever feel so if we created a world flag? 😊

Thanks for you lovely note… A world flag–what a fantastic idea, Miriam! It would fly at the very top of every pole and remind us how much we all have in common. ❤ Wishing us all peace, love and joy! xoxoxo…
