    Betty, thank you so much for giving us a chance to try our hand at Haiku. It was a joy. I doubt it will be something I do often since I’m so busy with my novels, but I certainly enjoyed it. Your book still resides on our coffee table and looks so pretty there. When I need a lift after a busy day, I often open the pages at random and read one of your delightful Haikus about your home. It reminds me of my visit to Maine. God bless your work.

    Bette, a wonderful set of haikus celebrating Maine – beautiful and enticing. I love the Old Sentinel and reminds me how out on the islands where my mother was born the two lighthouses which had been the ‘sentinels’ on the rocky shoreline have been taken down. They were unused but still … we were gutted and the landscape looks ‘wrong’. Your Maine is stunning and I long to visit more than ever! ❤️

      I’m sad to hear that the lighthouses have been taken down, Annika Perry. What a travesty. They hold so much history. Hopefully, no others will be removed. I love visiting them. When I lived in Pensacola, Florida, I climbed to the top of the Pensacola lighthouse and walked around the enormous, beautiful light and took in the view. Thanks for liking my Haiku. It’s not my normal genre, but it sure was fun.

        Sorry … sent too early! The views are stunning! I’ve only ever been up one lighthouse in Dorset called Portland Bill! A wonderful and memorable visit. As for haikus, Bette has a knack of drawing the best out of us in this genre! Lovely to ‘meet’ you here on her blog!

      Thanks, Sandee. The blooms are singing and the golden fields are greening. It’s been a most lovey week here in Maine and know your week in the Golden State is singing and greening too… Hubby and I were in Mojave Desert and Lompoc (coast) in the 90s. I grew up (early years) in Santa Clara. ❤ Hugs and happy week to you too!

    I find the haiku form very inspiring because these poems are usually about nature. Haikus are also energy-instilling because they are short and often accompanied with photos. Thanks to Sharon, Karen, and Radhika. And YOU, Bette, for promoting these authors and the state of Maine.

    HI,
    I have heard that Maine is a beautiful state, but to be honest, the weather is too cold for me. I’ve also heard that the summers are not long. Your pics are fabulous. They make me relax but not liking cold weather, I dont know whether I would choose to vacation there.
