A writer inspired by nature and human nature

BROOK SONGS poem by basInspired by nature, I love to walk to down the brook. It’s only a quarter-mile from “The Farmstead” here in Central Maine and no matter the weather or season, the sights and sounds of the water and the abundance of nature’s bounty always manage to refresh my soul and often inspire the writer child within me. The photo for the poem Brook Songs was taken last fall. As the autumn season nears a new dawning, I put pen to paper for a draft before designing the poem on the computer. ~ Bette A. Stevens, Maine author/illustrator

Really liked this poem, especially because moving water is where I find the most solace. Ironically, I spent last evening camped beside a lovely trout stream, so when I saw this poem, I just had to comment. Keep up the great work. 🙂

Summer is ending. We are visiting friends in Vermont and they harvested the corn this morning. I get a chill thinking about it, even though it’s still warm and sunny. Lovely poem and picture. It’s harvest time … again.

Sounds like you’re enjoying some of those last days of our way-too-short season…And, yum–nothing like corn or any veggies freshly picked and cooked within minutes. We’re still getting the gardens in too…the root crops and apples will be last. Lots of work, but glad we still can do it. Have a fantastic weekend, say “Hi!” to Garry and thanks for spending time with me. Hugs! ❤

Hi, Barbara. Thanks so much for the gracious compliment and for your support. Leaves will change and leaves will fall, but they’ll be back to amaze and delight us again next fall. Yay! Enjoy the last days of our sensational summer season and have a fun and fantastic fall! 🙂

There’s just something about the sight and sound of water as a place to meditate; but, then the wonders around us are everywhere, like in your wonderful greenhouse and gardens. Hugs! 🙂 ❤
