There’s nothing quite like the sky at twilight to fill the soul with awe—even at the close of a bitter winter day. Photo taken at the farmstead in Central Maine in mid-winter inspired this writer to pen a winter tale. What’s inspiring you today?~Bette A. Stevens, Maine author

What a beautiful haiku and photo, Bette! The winter sky is so lovely against a blanket of snow. We’ve gotten more snow here in SW Ohio than we’ve had in years and I am enjoying every moment. It’s been bitter cold, but the gorgeous blanket of snow makes up for the cold temps. Love and hugs, dear friend. 💕🤗💕

Bette, I’ve been struggling to find a word to describe the blue of the winter sky, then see you name the perfect colour in this lovely wintry haiku. Periwinkle! Exactly! Instead of bemoaning the season I like the idea of listening to its lullaby. Your photograph is wonderful, a glory of sunset colours. Congratulations on your regular feature in Novel Thoughts, Bette! Hugs xx❤️

Thank you, Larry. ❤ We sometimes moan and groan when winter overstays its welcome, but the glimpses of glory along the way, brings out the dreamer in us too. Blessings and love, my friend.

Exquisite photo and haiku, Bette. I’m getting a bit fed up with the yo-yo temps and ‘active’ weather patterns in eastern Maine. You’ve reminded me to figuratively and literally chill out and appreciate my surroundings!

Thanks so much for you note, Molly. With lots more snow and more bitter temps in the offing, it’s a perfect time to get wrapped in the beauty that surrounds us every day… The glory of this sunset reminds me of how lucky we are. ❤ Stay safe and warm and enjoy the magic of the months of Maine. xo
